In the last 8 years, at least 85 sugarcane mills became on the verge of bankrupt in Brazil.
It seems that the business model of sugar, ethanol and bioelectricity production is not enough to assure competitiveness to the sugarcane industry.
Which pathways would provide real, free market, competitiveness to this industry?
When I say free market, I mean independence to governmental support. I should check the Australian model. Because as long as I know there is not subsidies for agricultural activities. In Brazil it is the other way around since the 1500`s with the sugar production from sugarcane. If it was not for the governmental support and the slavery, it would never be competitive in the international market.
